so tired from working 13 hour days this week. i feel like i've aged 10 years. i hope my paycheck makes me happy when i see it. 2 more weeks left of this nonsense, possibly 3-i can't even remember.

i really need to get home and rest, so i'm missing amy's birthday drinks tonight. i feel bad because we've totally lost touch over the past year. she was nellie mckay's first photographer, and we had a lot of great great times at the tiny downtown joints where nellie started out...fez, living room, bottom line...then it was on to opening for cyndi lauper and sting and starring on broadway. god, that was one of the best years ever. 2003. i feel so much older now. but i'm happier now, and that's because of frank. he's changed my whole life.

so anyway, i emailed amy and told her i how i felt and asked if she wanted to hang out sometime soon, me her & nicole. i wonder what she'll say.

almost out of here [29 Jun 2006|04:18pm]

so we're leaving for our long-awaited cleveland trip tomorrow night. i'm giddy. we have a packed 5 days. i'm trying to sort it through my head right now.

get in tomorrow night, stay at gina's
saturday: sarah's wedding
sunday: visit dad & grandma; p.m. possible BBQ party with my high school pals
monday: go to the beach with mom, bob & the kids; p.m. indians/yankees game with keri, julie, katey & gina
tuesday: CEDAR POINT, yesssssssss. it's july 4th and i'm so psyched at the prospect of being on a rollercoaster while fireworks go off. it's going to be me, frank, possibly my sister, my best friend in the world, jackie, and a gaggle of our high school friends. i have no idea how many but it's going to be a lot.
wednesday: leave for ny

i also plan on showing frank around my hometown, where i went to school, the beach, and possible neighborhoods on the west side where we'd move.

that's if our plan to move to santiago, chile doesn't pan out.

frank's friend peden from high school has lived there for the past few years, working for this news service, BN Americas. it's expanding fast and he said he could guarantee us both jobs. frank visited in 2002 - he had a blast and the city was beautiful. peden apparently has a brand new, palatial penthouse apartment complete with a maid...a MAID...for less than $500 a month. and we could get something almost as great for quite a bit less, he said.
we've been researching santiago up a storm, and i know this: we can dig moving there for a couple of years, becoming fluent in spanish and touring south america in the process. cleveland can wait.

and the fantastic coda to next week is...
my BFF jackie, a.k.a. "little jackie", is flying to nyc on thursday. i talked to her this morning and she was disappointed we'd only get to be together on sunday night and the 4th at cedar point. so she decided she would just have to come back with us. it's going to be an ass-kicking week.

tilly & the wall [23 Jun 2006|01:51am]
if i could travel around the world to see one band, it would definitely be tilly & the wall. i can't explain the joy that this band just IS. their music makes me feel nostalgic and wistful and like i'm 17 again and regretful that i'm not up on the stage with them. the cool thing about the latter is that they actually DO invite people to play with them. the encore of their show last week at bowery ballroom reminded me of nights driving with my friends in high school, laughing our heads off, feeling independent for the first time in my life -- optimism still intact. the band encouraged as many people to get up on stage as could fit. i was just waiting for someone to come over to tell them to stop it, much like the cops used to crash our beach bonfires in high school. the crowd grabbed tambourines, shook moroccas, sang their lungs out, danced, jumped and stomped their feet to the most infectious tune imaginable, "nights of the living dead," and it was amazing.
tilly & the wall writes about youth, after all. they are 2 guys and 3 girls - 1 of whom tapdances away on stage in place of a drummer. it may seem gimmicky, but just see them live and any doubts disappear.
i'll post a few mp3s tomorrow!

save the wedding! [22 Jun 2006|03:42pm]

i'm going to see 'threepenny opera' tonight with nicole and dor. should be interesting to see nellie on the stage after so long, and doing something completely different than her usual act.

oh, i hope it all works out for karolyn and bryan! i am pretty confident that it will come together, with so many people on their side. their friend created this fancy website to support them, www.savethewedding.com. it's a crazy thing to happen to anyone.

if i ever get married, i swear i'm doing it in the caribbean. with just close friends and family. stress factor = low to none.

so nicole just told me that she forwarded the site to her friend melinda, a former producer at good morning america. she's sending THEM the link for a possible story! she says they think it will be perfect. i cannot even imagine. yay!
